Sandy Hunt

Mayor of New Martinsville, WV

Sandy Hunt was elected Mayor in 2020. She has served the town of New Martinsville for 17 years working in community development. Sandy began her career with the Wetzel County Chamber of Commerce and served on the executive committee as chairperson for the Community Engagement Committee. In 2009, Sandy founded the Wetzel County Convention and Visitors Bureau, a 501(c)6 organization, leading them to become an accredited CVB in 2019. She still serves as an ex-officio member of the board of directors. In 2014, Sandy also founded the Friends of Wetzel County, a 501(c)3 organization that works as a fiduciary agent. In 2019, Sandy formed the New Martinsville Blueprint Communities* team and serves as its facilitator. The Blueprint team was recently recertified and will continue in its efforts to help promote revitalization of our city and focuses on beautification, business support and expansion, and renovating bad buildings through its Better Buildings program. In addition, Sandy is on the steering committee for the WV Community Collaborative Network which meets quarterly to encourage growth and investment and the sharing of resources among all WV communities.

Prior to her work in community development, Sandy worked alongside her husband Steve as his business continued to grow until their daughter came into the family business as manager and now owner. Sandy also serves as the Pastor of the New Martinsville House Church which has been meeting in members’ homes for 25 years.
